Transferring Ownership or Deleting an App from Store

Learn how to transfer the ownership of your branded app to another developer account or remove it from the App Store and Play Store.

1. Transferring Ownership of an App

If your organization needs to move a branded app from one developer account to another, follow the respective steps below.

Apple App Store

  1. Log in to your App Store Connect.

  2. Make sure all the users are deleted from TestFlight section as shown below

  3. Go to My Apps β†’ Select the app you want to transfer.
    ​

  4. Click App Information β†’ Transfer App.


    ​

  5. Enter the Apple ID and Team ID of the receiving account.
    ​

  6. Confirm and complete the transfer steps.
    ​

⚠️ Both accounts must meet Apple’s transfer eligibility criteria:

  • Both accounts are active and enrolled in the Apple Developer Program.

  • The app uses only Apple frameworks (no proprietary entitlements).

  • All pending agreements are signed.

Google Play Store

  1. Go to your Google Play Console.

  2. Click Settings β†’ App Transfers β†’ Transfer Apps
    ​

  3. Fill in the form, including:

    • Current and target developer account details

    • App package name

    • Reason for transfer

  4. Submit the request. ​


​You'll need the registration transaction ID for the target account. To find the transaction ID, you can search the target account owner's email inbox for β€œdeveloper registration fee.”


If they can’t find the transaction ID email receipt:

  1. On the left menu, select Activity.

  2. Find and select the transaction for your developer account registration.

  • Tip: Search your transactions for β€œGoogle Play Developer.”

Your transaction ID is listed near the bottom of the transaction details.

Registration transactions IDs are typically in one of the following formats:

  1. 01234567890123456789.token.0123456789012345

  2. 0.G.123456789012345

  3. Registration-1234ab56-7c89-12d3-4567-8e91234567f8

  4. PDS.1234-5678-9012-3456

πŸ’‘ Transfers can take up to 48 hours and both developer accounts must be verified and active.


2. Deleting an App from Store

If you no longer wish to keep the app available for new downloads, you can unpublish or remove it from the store.


Apple App Store

  1. Log in to App Store Connect.

  2. Go to My Apps β†’ Select your app.
    ​

  3. Click Pricing and Availability.
    ​

  4. Scroll to App Availability β†’ Manage.
    ​

  5. Select None under Country or Region Availability.
    ​

  6. Click Next β†’ Confirm.
    ​
    ​

It can take up to 24 hours for the app to disappear from the store for new users.

Existing users will still have access unless you disable functionality within the app.


Google Play Store

  1. Log in to your Google Play Console.
    ​

  2. Go to All Apps β†’ Select your app.
    ​

  3. Click Advanced Settings β†’ App Availability.
    ​

  4. Select Unpublish.
    ​

  5. Confirm your decision.
    ​

πŸ’‘ The app will no longer appear in search results or store listings, but users who already installed it will retain access.


3. After Transfer or Deletion

  • Notify your Swapcard contact or support team if your app was built and managed through Studio.
    ​

  • If the app is transferred, update the developer account credentials inside Studio (under Mobile Settings).
    ​

If deleted, confirm with your account manager whether to archive or remove the app project entirely.
