Updated over a week ago

Generating an iOS API Key is a crucial step for event organizers who wish to integrate Apple-specific features into their event apps. This key allows your event's mobile application to communicate with Apple services, enabling functionalities like push notifications, in-app purchases, and more.

The following steps are only for Apple. You’re not required to create an API Key for Google.

How to generate an iOS API key

First, select Users and Access, and then select the Integrations tab. Then click the Add(+) button.

2. Enter a name for the key. The name is for your reference only and is not part of the key itself.

3. Under Access, select the role for the key (admin or app manager). Then, click “Generate”.

4. After refreshing the page, the new key’s name, key ID, a download link and other information will appear on the page. Be careful, the key can only be downloaded once.

Important considerations

  • Feature Availability: Some features enabled by the API Key, like push notifications, may require additional configurations on the Swapcard platform or within your event app.

  • Restricted Access: Ensure that only authorized team members have access to the API Key file to prevent unauthorized usage.

Creating an iOS API Key is a vital step for maximizing the functionality of your event app on Apple devices. By following these steps, you can efficiently generate and manage your API Key, enabling essential features like push notifications and in-app purchases. Remember to keep your API Key secure and explore further customization options to enhance your event app's integration with Apple services.
