Branded App and White Label: Main Benefits and Requirements

Setting up a White-Label platform (including your own branded mobile app and custom domain) allows you to create a seamless and fully personalized experience for your attendees.

Updated today

A White-Label platform allows you to host your event on a custom web domain (also known as a vanity or custom URL) and remove Swapcard’s branding entirely. This ensures a seamless attendee experience that reinforces your brand’s identity across all touchpoints.

Benefits of a White-Label Platform

  • Brand Consistency: Your platform, app, and URL align with your organization’s branding for a unified experience.

  • Professional Appearance: A custom domain presents a trustworthy and polished image to attendees.

  • Enhanced User Experience: A personalized web address and branded interface make navigation easy and memorable.

Guide to setup your White-label URL

Step 1: Configure the White-Label URL in the Studio

  1. Access the Studio: Log in to your event management Studio.

  2. Navigate to Application Settings: In the main menu, select Application to access application-specific configurations.

Enter your custom domain:

  • Locate the White label domains field.

  • Input your desired subdomain (e.g., events.yourcompany.com).

You must configure two subdomains, even if you don't plan to use both:

  • Event App Subdomain: This is what attendees will use to access your event.

  • Exhibitor Center Subdomain: Required during setup, even if not used.

🔔 Important: Both subdomains must be on the same root domain you own (e.g., events.yourcompany.com and exhibitors.yourcompany.com).

4. Save changes: Click Save or Apply to confirm the new settings.

Step 2: Update DNS Settings with your domain provider

To link your custom domain to the event platform, you'll need to modify your Domain Name System (DNS) records through your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap).

  1. Log in to your domain provider: Access your account on your domain provider's website.

  2. Access DNS management: Find the section labeled DNS Management or Domain Settings.

  3. Add a CNAME record:

    • Host: Enter the subdomain specified in the Studio (e.g., events).

    • Type: Select CNAME.

    • Value: Input the target domain provided by the Studio (e.g., platform.yourcompany.com).

    • TTL: Set to the default value or as recommended by your provider.

  4. Save DNS records: Confirm and save the new CNAME record.

Note: DNS changes may take up to 48 hours to propagate globally, though they often update sooner.

Step 3: Verify domain connection

  1. Return to the Studio: After updating DNS settings, go back to the Studio's Application section.

  2. Initiate domain verification: Click on Verify Domain or a similar option to confirm the connection.

  3. Confirmation: Upon successful verification, the platform will indicate that your white-label URL is active.

Additional Considerations

  • SSL Certificates: Ensure that Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates are correctly configured to provide a secure browsing experience.

  • Subdomain vs. Root Domain: It's recommended to use a subdomain (e.g., events.yourcompany.com) for the white-label URL to maintain existing website structures.

  • Support: If you encounter issues, consult your domain provider's support resources or contact the event platform's support team for assistance.

By following these steps, you can effectively set up a white-label URL, offering attendees a branded and cohesive experience.

Branded App vs. White-Label: What is the difference?

While both options provide a dedicated presence on the App Store and Google Play, they offer different levels of brand immersion.

The Branded App add-on provides dedicated iOS and Android apps for your brand and custom subdomains (e.g., yourbrand.swapcard.com). However, Swapcard remains visible as the technology provider in several areas:

  • Mobile App: A "Powered by Swapcard" mention appears in the Me tab and within the login modal after clicking "Start now."

  • Web Event App & Exhibitor Center: The URL uses a Swapcard subdomain rather than a full custom domain.

  • Communications: All automated system emails are sent from a Swapcard sender address.

The White-Label add-on is our most premium branding tier. It includes everything in the Branded App but goes further to create a 100% bespoke identity by removing all Swapcard mentions.

  • Full Custom Domains: Your Web App and Exhibitor Center live on your own domain (e.g., app.yourbrand.com).

  • Custom Email Domain: Replace default sender addresses with your own domain, authenticated (DKIM/SPF) to ensure high deliverability and professional consistency.

  • Zero Visibility: All "Powered by Swapcard" mentions are removed from the mobile and web interfaces, ensuring your brand stays front and center.
