Is Swapcard accessible? It's a question we often receive, and an important one: every participant should be able to attend sessions, meet other participants, and do business at your event, whatever their abilities.
This article presents Swapcard's accessibility statement: our commitment, the standard we are working toward, the products it covers, and how to contact us about accessibility.
In short: Swapcard is working toward conformance with WCAG 2.1 Level AA for the Web Event App and the Exhibitor Center by the end of 2026, to provide a fully accessible experience for attendees and exhibitors.
What is Swapcard's commitment to accessibility?
Swapcard is committed to building an event platform that everyone can use, including people with disabilities. An accessible platform lets more people take part in your events and makes the experience easier for all participants.
We are currently working to make the Web Event App and the Exhibitor Center conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, by the end of 2026. Our goal is to provide a fully accessible solution for attendees and exhibitors, from browsing the event and attending sessions to networking, booking meetings, and managing leads.
What is WCAG 2.1 Level AA?
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) are the international reference for web accessibility. They are published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and organized around four principles: content must be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust.
WCAG defines three conformance levels: A, AA, and AAA. Level AA includes all Level A and Level AA requirements, and it is the level most organizations use as their accessibility target. It covers, for example:
Using the platform with a keyboard only, without a mouse.
Compatibility with assistive technologies, such as screen readers.
Sufficient color contrast between text and its background.
Text alternatives for images and icons.
Visible keyboard focus, clear form labels, and helpful error messages.
Content that stays readable when text is enlarged up to 200% or displayed on small screens.
Learn more on the W3C website.
Which Swapcard products are covered?
Our accessibility work focuses on the web applications used by your participants:
Web Event App: the responsive web version of the event app, where attendees, speakers, and exhibitor team members browse the event, attend sessions, network, and book meetings.
Exhibitor Center: the responsive web app where exhibitors manage their team, company profile, meetings, and leads.
How can you make your event more accessible?
Swapcard's work covers the platform itself. The content you publish also plays a key role in the accessibility of your event. When you set up your event:
Choose branding colors with enough contrast between text and background. When you define your branding colors in Studio, an alert warns you if the contrast doesn't meet accessibility requirements.
Avoid putting important information only inside images, such as banners or posters, and describe it in text as well.
Provide captions for your videos and live sessions whenever possible. You can also use Swapcard's AI-generated session summaries to give participants a written recap of your sessions.
Share documents in accessible formats, for example tagged PDFs.
Check that third-party content you embed, such as videos, widgets, or external pages, is accessible.
How to contact us about accessibility?
If you encounter an accessibility barrier on Swapcard or have a question about this statement, let us know:
Attendees and exhibitors: use Contact app support from the menu of the Me tab in the event app.
Organizers: contact your account manager or our Support team.
To help us investigate, describe the page or feature concerned, the issue you encountered, and the browser and assistive technology you use, if any.
Important notes and limitations
Our work toward WCAG 2.1 AA conformance is in progress. Until it is complete, some parts of the Web Event App and the Exhibitor Center may not yet be fully accessible.
Content added by organizers, exhibitors, and participants (texts, images, documents, videos) and third-party content embedded in your event depend on their authors and providers, and may not meet WCAG requirements.
This statement covers the Web Event App and the Exhibitor Center. For questions about other Swapcard products, contact your account manager.

Accessibility is an ongoing commitment at Swapcard. We will keep improving the Web Event App and the Exhibitor Center so that every attendee and exhibitor can take full part in your events.
