Introduction
Displaying your event content using Swapcard widgets helps you keep your audience engaged and informed without needing to duplicate content. By embedding agendas, exhibitor lists, speaker profiles, and more directly onto your site, you can enhance the visibility of your event and streamline the attendee experience.
What are Swapcard widgets and why use them?
Widgets allow you to showcase key event information on your own website, eliminating the need to update information in multiple places. This ensures consistency, saves time, and offers a seamless attendee experience. Widgets can be used to display your event's schedule, list of exhibitors, speakers, and attendees, keeping visitors informed and connected.
Benefits of Using Widgets:
Enhanced Engagement: Keep your website visitors up-to-date with real-time event information.
Consistency: Avoid duplicating efforts by managing content in one place.
Simplified Access: Attendees can access important information directly from your website, increasing their engagement and participation.
How to embed Swapcard widgets on your website
How to Find the Embed HTML Code
1.For an Event:
Go to the Studio and navigate to Event builder ➡️ Pages & Menu.
Scroll down until you reach the Widgets section.
2.For a community
Embedding community pages, including people, exhibitors, items, and sessions, into external websites significantly boosts community engagement. Integrating this content directly onto your website attracts new participants and showcases your offerings effectively.
Access the Studio:
Go to the Studio and navigate to Community builder ➡️ Pages & Menu.
Scroll down to the Widgets section.
3. Using a Widget
Select Content to Display:
Choose the content you want to display on your website from the "View displayed" list. The available options depend on the pages you have created.
If the page is not set to be visible to Guests, you will be prompted to make it public.
Agenda View Interaction:
When displaying the Agenda view, visitors can interact with the Event's Agenda and access the Sessions pages. However, live streams and pre-recorded videos will not be accessible through the Widget.
Widget settings and customization options
Once the chosen Widget has been generated, you will see the embedded HTML code that you can copy and paste wherever you desire on your website. Before you proceed though, there are a few settings that you can play with to adapt the Widget and the content to your needs:
Language: select any of the languages that you have set up for your Event, so that the language set in the Widget matches the language of your website's page.
Display interaction actions: toggle on this option if you want interaction actions such as bookmarking a Company or registering for a Session to be directly available from the Widget view. Any action taken will prompt users to authenticate or register for the Event.
Infinite scroll toggle: You can control how content loads within the widget. If it's enabled, as the user scrolls, additional content loads automatically without manual input. This is ideal for full-page implementations where the widget is the main focus.
If disabled, a “Load more” button will appear, allowing visitors to load additional entries at their own pace. This setup is especially useful when the widget is placed above or near other important website elements, helping maintain usability and layout structure.Automatic Height Adjustment : the latest version of Swapcard widgets includes a lightweight JavaScript script that:
automatically resizes the widget’s height based on its content
prevents inner scrollbars or “double scroll” effects common with iframes
provides a smoother embedding experience and better performance across browsers
This dynamic resizing ensures the widget feels native to your page and improves overall accessibility.
Script vs. Iframe-only integration
script-enhanced version
The recommended method for integration, offering better performance, full resizing, and access to advanced behaviors like infinite scroll.iframe-only version
Still available for platforms or CMSs that do not support custom scripts. This version offers basic functionality but lacks the responsive enhancements and SEO benefits of the script-enhanced setup.
🔧 Note: If your platform restricts JavaScript, use the iframe-only embed code. If you’re able to support scripts, always use the enhanced version for optimal results.
How to make a page visible to Guests
Another way to make a page visible to Guests is via Event builder ➡️ Pages & Menu. There, you need to select the page you wish to edit by clicking on the Edit "pencil" icon right next to it. Then, under the Visibility tab, toggle on the Guests option.
Agenda View Interaction Details
When embedding the Agenda view, website visitors can:
Browse the full event schedule
Access individual session detail pages
However, note that live streams and pre-recorded session videos are not accessible through the widget. Users must log in to the Swapcard platform to view multimedia session content. You can find more information about Widgets here.
N.B.: Editing the give code might results to the widget not appearing properly or at all.
Embedding event content directly on your website helps maintain a cohesive and engaging event experience for your attendees, while also maximizing the reach of your event information. By using Swapcard widgets, you ensure that your event’s details are always up-to-date, accessible, and presented in a user-friendly manner.
