Learn how to create and customize an event ticket page on Swapcard, enabling participants to access and print their tickets or badges.

Updated over 2 months ago

Pages serve as the entry points to your Community and Events. They allow you to control how your content is displayed. Swapcard offers various types of Pages, and in this guide, we'll focus on the Event Ticket Page.

The Event Ticket Page enables participants to:

  • Display one or multiple ticket barcodes/QR codes on their phones for event or session access, and use the Lead Capture feature to connect with others.

  • Download their badge file from Swapcard Registration or a third-party registration service to print before the event.

How to create an Event Ticket Page from Studio

Like for creating any page, navigate to Pages & Menu inside Event builder section, click Create page and select Event ticket.

Define the name of the button (Label), color and icon or background based on your display mode.

Which code type should you select for your event ticket page

When creating your event ticket page, you have to define the code type. This can be edited at any time after the page is created, via the Data tab when editing your event ticket page.

Event ticket code type: "Swapcard Registration Badge"

Choose Swapcard Registration Badge option, if you're using Swapcard Registration, and want your participants to have physical badge that they can print-at-home ahead from the event.

After having created your badge templates, create an event ticket page with Swapcard Registration Badge option, so your participants will be able to get their badge according to the template your have defined for their ticket type. And if you want them to be able to download their badge in a PDF file in order to print-it, make sure the corresponding toggle is enabled (see screenshot above).

Event ticket code type: "QR Code" and "Barcode"

Choose QR code or any Barcode option, to let your Participants display their personal code on their mobile onsite for accessing the event, any session (learn more about Onsite Session Tracking with SwapAccess), and for being scanned by exhibitors or participants using the Lead Capture feature.

Participants will be able to then click on the Button from the homepage or the event menu, and access their event ticket:

QR codes are recommended for their readability by mobile devices. If using barcode readers at event access points, select the appropriate format: Barcode C39, Barcode C128, or Barcode UPC-A (EAN-13).

After selecting QR code or any Barcode options, you can decide whether only the most recent ticket will be displayed, or all of them (if you allow participants to have several codes).

If you decide to go with the All tickets option, you can sort them by From newest to oldest, From oldest to newest, Alphabetically (A-Z), or According to ticket order.

Event ticket code type: "File"

Choose File (Most recent) option, if using a third-party service for event badge registration. Ensure the badge file generated by the third-party is transferred to Swapcard using our native integrations or our Developer API.

Then your participants will be able to open their badge file in order to print it before the event.

If several badge files are assigned to a participant, only the most recent one will be displayed.

Troubleshooting: Why participant can't see their ticket or badge

Here are the several reasons why one of your participant can't access their ticket or badge, even if you have created the Event ticket page.

Participant's group doesn't have the permission to see the page

  • Check the Visibility tab in the Event Ticket page settings to ensure the participant's group has permission to view the page.

  • If a participant belongs to multiple groups, only the highest priority group is considered.

Participant doesn't have code or file

  • Verify the participant's settings in Studio: Content > People > Select the person > Settings tab.

  • Ensure they have at least one code (for QR code or Barcode) or one file (for File).

Participant doesn't have a registration ticket assigned to your badge templates

If you're have selected Swapcard Registration Badge option in your event ticket page, ensure the participant has a Swapcard registration, with a ticket that has been assigned to one of the Badge template you've created.
